This is the World's Longest Running Art Deco Festival...

The Miami Design Preservation League is seeking vendors for its 39th Annual Art Deco Weekend. It’s the longest running Art Deco festival in the world with over 300,000 people in attendance.

Applications are accepted from artists, vendors selling antiques, collectibles, vintage clothing, furniture, jewelry or other objects from the Art Deco, early Modernist and midcentury eras.  New merchandise and vendor booth facades and displays that accurately depict Art Deco design motifs will be accepted.  This is a grea opportunity to sell at a widely attended street festival on world-famous Ocean Drive.

The Art Deco Weekend Festival was started in 1976 by the Miami Design Preservation League to attract visitors to Miami Beach’s Art Deco District and to raise awareness of the art and culture of the Art Deco era (approximately 1925-1945). The festival has historically attracted over a quarter of a million visitors to the area. The event will take place January 16-18, 2015 with the theme of “The Miami Beach Century ”.

Our vendors and the merchandise they sell are the festival’s most prominent visual element and an important educational tool. Therefore, the committee will review applications to ensure all merchandise fulfills at least ONE of the following criteria:

• It displays the Art Deco architecture of Miami Beach
• It displays the Art Deco architecture (including Streamline Moderne, Nautical Moderne, Stripped Classical, Depression Moderne, De Stijl, Bauhaus) of any local.
• It displays Art Deco design motifs (see related styles above).
• It displays antiques from the era (approximately 1925-1945).
• Any new merchandise accurately represents the fashions, clothing, furniture, house wares, graphic design, industrial design, toys and/or decorative objects of the Art Deco era, and/or reflected the conditions of the Great Depression of the 1930s.
• Specialty Vendor accepted by the committee into the event

All artists, crafts, antique, and nostalgia vendor applications are screened through a committee process. In order to assist the committee in evaluating your work, photographs of your merchandise booth set up must accompany your application. The photos should clearly show the Art Deco merchandise/artwork/fascade/decoration you will exhibit. All decisions by the committee are final. MDPL’s office staff does not participate in the decisions and cannot influence or alter the committee vote.

YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE SUBMITTED TO THE COMMITTEE UNTIL YOUR APPLICATION FEE HAS BEEN RECEIVED. Typically the Committee meets mid-month and last business day of the month and credit cards/checks for the booth fee are applied upon acceptance.
