Summerfest, which showcases the White Rose City's rich heritage and unmistakable charm, will once again expect to draw over 45,000 visitors.

 

It’s been 31 years in the making, and the annual summer event in York, South Carolina is only getting better. Summerfest, the annual festival celebrating the end of summer in beautiful, historic downtown York, will once again stand out as one of the most exciting and notable events in South Carolina. 

 

The main attraction for Summerfest has been its craft and art show, which brings artisans and craft designers from various parts of the Southeast.  The craft and food fair includes over 100 craft and food vendors. Streets and are open for business from 9am until 5pm. The fair features an array of hand-made crafts, a variety of foods and several featured attractions located in the downtown area within easy walking distance of the craft and food fair. The Summerfest Classic Car Show is one of the largest in the Southeast and will be held on South Congress Street.


Summerfest Children's Activities are from 10am until 3pm and include a coloring contest, face painting, martial arts exhibitions, the 4-H Petting Zoo, Little Blue Choo rides, Monster Water Ball, and the Water Basketball game. A robotics demonstration by the York School District One, Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center will features two levels of robotics, high school level and a middle school First Lego League Other events include Healthy Home Town, Golf Tournament, USTA sanctioned Tennis Tournament, 10K, 5K, and Fun Run, and much more.

Summerfest kicks off with the Downtown Live Concert featuring the Beach and Motown music of Flash Back. Summerfest 2014 will close Saturday evening with a musical concert featuring a very popular local group playing Classic Rock and Blues.

 

Inside the historic Sylvia Theatre, the Texaco Country Showdown returns to Summerfest for 2014.  Sponsored by Texaco, Interstate 107 Radio, and the Greater York Chamber of Commerce, singers will vie for cash and prizes and the opportunity to compete in the national talent search and to possibly win $100,000. The contest will be held on Saturday, August 23.
