HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR POSTCARD PROGRAM...


HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

 

The cost will be dependent on the number of postcards you decide to print, the size and who does the mailing and who designs the postcard.

We can actually print a wide variety of sizes.  The reason I quote the 4”X6” size in our advertising is that this is the largest size the US Post Office will allow you to mail using first class postage (currently $.27 per piece).  I know this price is due to increase on May 18, 2009.

Lets discuss printing first:   

These are four color on both sides, UV (very shiny) coating on one side and aqueous coating (semi-gloss) on the other.  You can of course have the UV on both sides if you’d like but it makes handling them somewhat difficult.  The aqueous coating can also be done on both side if you’d like… it shortens the delivery time by about a day.  The cards are printed on 14 point paper.  That makes them very stiff and able to be processed very easily by the Postal Service’s automated equipment meaning faster delivery time for you.

Even larger quantities are available and I can quote those individually if you’d like.  We have excellent prices for most applications, flyers, event programs etc. too.

Shipping to your location and sales tax if applicable will be extra.

Next lets discuss design work. 

My standard charge for graphic design is $100.00 / hr.  and then after the first hour it’s billable by .25 hr increments.  If there’s just a little bit of “touch up” work to send the piece to print I’m sure we can work that out.

Now mailing the cards.

Obviously if you choose to mail your own cards there is no additional charge.  If we mail to your names (and the list is in a format we can import) we’ll charge $.10 each plus postage.  If we mail from our list we’ll charge $.20 each plus postage.  If we bulk mail your piece using our bulk mail indicia there is no additional charge for that but there is a 200 piece minimum.  There is no minimum on first class pieces.  We can turn most mailings around within a couple of days.


 

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?


We need at least 10 days for printing if you provide the camera ready copy (sometimes it’s less but we like to be on the safe side).  And at least three days for actually doing the mailing.  If you send to over 5000 people it could take a bit longer depending on how many names you have.



DO YOU SUPPLY THE NAMES OR DO WE?

 

We can use your names, our names or a combination of the two.  When we select from the names we have (a total of about 37,000 currently in our database) we can choose whatever demographics you’d like.  We can select by zip codes, type of work (fine art, craft, food), even by exact work in many cases (oils & acrylics, sculpture, watercolors etc.)  When we incorporate your list with ours (we can usually import just about any format) we can run a duplicate search so we don’t waste postage or postcards on duplicates.


DO I NEED A BULK MAIL PERMIT?


We have a bulk mail permit we can use to mail whatever quantity you’d like (minimum 200).  Every piece we send is CASS certified to meet the postal requirements at the time of mailing. The use of bulk mail is a good idea for larger mailings and larger pieces. Instead of using $.42 postage for every card, you can send that same card for closer to $.23 each (exact price varies according to the specific list we use). First class mail does however offer faster service, so if you are in a rush, this may not be the best option.
